Basics
One of the first steps in establishing your internet presence is to set up web hosting for your site. Basically, Web hosting provides a physical space for your Website to reside in and be available 24 hours a day. Several standard features are a part of any Web hosting package, regardless of cost: disk space, network traffic, domain name service, and email addresses.

Disk Space
Your computer has a hard drive where your computer files are stored, and a Web server has a hard drive where Web pages are stored. A hosting provider offers space on their hard drives in megabyte (MB) increments. There is no foolproof method for determining how many megabytes of disk space your Web site will occupy, but one rule of thumb estimates the average Web page, including HTML and graphics, is approximately 25-100k. Graphics, and other media take up more space than text; we will be better able to estimate your needs if you have a general idea of how graphically or media intense your site will be.

Traffic
When developing your Internet presence, you expect visitors, customers or the media to see your Web site. But do you expect 20 or 20,000 people to view your site in a month? Outward-bound traffic from your Web site is considered data transfer. Each time a visitor views your Web page, data transfer is generated; email is also a form of data transfer. And just as large files like graphics and multimedia take up more disk space, these files also require greater bandwidth.

Domain Name
An important element of a successful Web site is creating a unique brand or corporate identity. One way to establish such an identity is with a unique domain name that visitors can use to access your site. (For example: artofthegroove.com) Domain names are maintained by InterNIC and must be registered for a minimum of one year. You can either register your domain name through a registry service or you may have this service performed by us.

Email
Email capabilities are an important part of the Web hosting package. A mailbox is typically assigned as a place where your electronic mail is sent. We also provide your own POP3 mailboxes. A POP3 mailbox can be set up to respond automatically to inquiries, as well as to recognize multiple aliases for a single email box. Our email services allow you to maintain your online presence with an email address in the form of you@yourdomain.com. You will not have to settle for a less-than-professional email address such as those from Hotmail, Yahoo or AOL for example.
